Ice Cream

When taking a walk last night I saw an ice-cream truck and its jingle lured me like the Sirens of Greek methology. I got to the truck and saw a father with his two children--a boy seemingly between the age of 6 and 8, and a young girl who I'd guess was close to 10 years old. After getting his ice cream, the young boy turns to me and says with a big smile, "black lives matter!"

"The Stranger" by Albert Camus

My first time reading an Albert Camus book and I really enjoyed "The Stranger." It's a beautifully written book and I would recommend you give it a read. However, after I finished reading earlier in the week I felt really down and after a few days its effect is still present. 

Last Year in LA

Love and Basketball

My wife is really getting into basketball. I believe I've mentioned before how quickly she has improved since I first taught her how to shoot. Seeing her abilities improve is a great reminder that it's never too late to learn a new skill. All that is required is a desire to learn and putting in the time. 

After shooting around yesterday, she set a goal of playing together on a team when we eventually live in Japan. I'll continue to support her so that dream can be fulfilled.

Journaling - Excuses

My wife bought me a journal yesterday and the first thing I wrote was my gratitude towards her. I haven't journaled in a while--close to two months if my calculations are correct, and her generosity reminded me of its importance. After my last journal finished, I told myself that I would buy a new iPad and use that as my journal.
